Biography

Ran Zhao (Member, IEEE) received the B.S. degree from Anhui University (AHU), Hefei, China, in 2011, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), Chengdu, China, in 2016. Since 2017, he has been an Assistant Professor with the School of Electronic Information and Engineering, AHU. From 2019 to 2022, he was a Post-Doctoral Fellow with the Division of Computer, Electrical, and Mathematical Science and Engineering (CEMSE), King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Thuwal, Saudi Arabia. Since 2022, he has been a Research Scientist at KAUST. Since 2023, he has been an Associate Professor at UESTC. His research interests include numerical methods, especially full-wave methods in computational electromagnetics, and multiphysics problems.

He was the recipient of the 2022 Young Scientist Award at the International Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society Symposium in China. He was also the coauthor (mentor) of the third-place winner in the 2023 IEEE AP-S/URSI Best Student Paper Contest.
