Biography

Angelo Sampaolo obtained his Master degree in Physics in 2013 and the PhD Degree in Physics in 2017 from University of Bari. He was a visiting researcher in the Laser Science Group at Rice University from 2014 to 2016 and in 2017 a research intern at Aramco Services Company in Houston. From May 2017 to June 2018, he was a Post-Doctoral Research associate at University of Bari and from July 2018 to December 2019 he was a Post-Doctoral Research associate at Polytechnic of Bari. Since 2018, he is an associate researcher at the Institute of Laser Spectroscopy of Shanxi University in Taiyuan, China. Since 2024 he is Associate Professor at Polytechnic of Bari.  He is co-founder and CEO of “PolySenSe Innovations”, a spinoff company devoted to commercialization of innovative gas sensors and consulting for applications in environmental, petrochemical, and biomedical fields. His research activity has included the study of the thermal properties of heterostructured devices via Raman spectroscopy. Most recently, his research interest has focused on the development of innovative techniques in trace gas sensing, based on Quartz-Enhanced Photoacoustic Spectroscopy and covering the full spectral range from near-IR to THz. Prof. Sampaolo is responsible for the Technical University of Bari or University of Bari research unit in several National and European Projects. His research activity is documented by more than 150 Scopus publications and 5 filed patents (more than 4000 citations, h-index 42).  He has given more than 20 invited and keynote  presentations at international conferences and workshops.  Since 2019 has been ranked among Top 2% Scientists in the world by Stanford University, USA (https://elsevier.digitalcommonsdata.com/datasets/btchxktzyw/6). In 2024 ha has been listed in the World Scientists Rankings 2024 by AD Scientific Index (Angelo Sampaolo – AD Scientific Index 2024).
