Session Information
Nonlinear optical effects have enabled numerous applications such as laser frequency conversion and ultrafast all-optical modulation. While bulk nonlinear optical crystals have conventionally been used for free-space nonlinear optical applications, over the last decade, plasmonics and metasurfaces have emerged as novel nonlinear optical media with unique advantages such as being free from the phase-matching limitation. The goal of this focus session is to set up a platform for researchers to share recent advances in the novel physics of nonlinear plasmonics and metasurfaces, as well as their applications in areas including but not limited to frequency conversion, all-optical modulation, and nonlinear wavefront control.
