Session's Information:

Rapid growth of data traffic in communication systems formulates challenging tasks for different aspects of the information handling: transmission, processing, and storage. Fundamental physical limitations in both information theory and opto-electronic hardware are driving forces to explore novel approaches in developing transmission solutions and signal processing with very high speed.

In this session, we present a review of recent achievements on physical phenomena crucial for high-capacity coherent optical communication: impact of amplitude and phase noise on the quality of signal transmission; non-linear effects arising from both transmission media and signal processing; implementation of advanced modulation formats; trade-off between spectrum and energy efficiency, and others.

Invited reports from world leading experts will be presented
