SC5: Light Scattering and Radiative Transfer: Basic Research and Applications | Organized by Prof. Ping Yang (Texas A&M University) and Dr. Michael I. Mishchenko (NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies) | | Session's Information: | Light scattering and radiative transfer are two important branches of physics essential to the implementation of advanced remote sensing techniques and the investigation of the physical processes associated with radiation in the earth-atmosphere coupled system. This session provides a forum for the presentation of recent advances in electromagnetic scattering, such as the scattering properties of nonspherical particles, 3-D radiative transfer, vector radiative transfer simulations, fast radiative transfer models for the interpretation of hyperspectral measurements, and the use of fundamental light scattering and radiative transfer theories in active and passive remote sensing applications.
