PIERS2019 Rome Focus/Special Sessions
SC2: Analytical Methods for Metamaterials, Metasurfaces, and 2D Materials from Microwaves to Optics 2
Organized by Prof. Alexander B. Yakovlev (The University Mississippi) and Prof. Juan Sebastian Gomez-Diaz (University of California Davis)

Session's Information:
The intention of this special session is to share the latest developments in analytical modeling techniques used for the analysis of electromagnetic interaction with metamaterials, metasurfaces, and 2D materials ranging from microwaves to optics. The idea is to demonstrate that analytical methods applied for materials and surfaces with deeply subwavelength inclusions result in accurate and efficient solutions, provide physical insight in understanding exotic wave phenomena, and facilitate the design process of practical structures and devices. In addition, the discussion of nonlocal effects, surface plasmons, non-reciprocal behavior, among others, is of great interest in relation to homogenization theory and analytical modeling. Practical applications concerning perfect absorbers, non-reciprocal structures and devices, beam-forming metasurfaces, among others, are strongly encouraged.

List of (confirmed) invited speakers:

Giuseppe Labate (Politecnico di Torino, Italy)
Filippo Costa (Universita di Pisa, Italy)
Filippo Capolino (University of California, Irvine, USA)
