Recent advances in the fields of plasmonics, metamaterials and nanophotonics have led to important developments, e.g., micro and nanoresonators achieving large enhancements and sub-wavelength confinements of optical electromagnetic fields. The domain is characterized by a rapid improvement of fabrication technologies, theoretical concepts and numerical tools and a booming of potential applications, such as enhanced molecular sensing, flat optics, nanoresonator molecules, nonlinear metasurfaces, slow light, and quantum nanophotonics.
The “Resonant Optics – Fundamentals and Applications” symposium aims at gathering scientists interested in recent advances in the field. For the application part, the symposium will focus on several key research areas within resonant optics, including optical chirality, field confinement for energy and catalysis, spatial dispersion in nanoantennas, metasurfaces for beam control, aperiodic media, hybrid photonic/plasmonic optoelectronic devices and non-linear metamaterials, on the development of new theoretical concepts (cavity perturbation theory, mode volume, quasinormal mode expansions), and on numerical tools and mode solvers to interpret and design resonant optics.
In particular, we would like to favor a high degree of exchanges between experimentalist and theoretician groups to render this exciting field even more dynamic.
