SC1&SC2: Computational Bioelectromagnetics: from Single Molecule to Human Body
Organized by Prof. Francesca Apollonio (Sapienza University of Rome) and Dr. Caterina Merla (ENEA, Division of Health Protection Technologies)
Session's Information:
The SESSION “Computational Bioelectromagnetics: from Single Molecule to Human Body” will be devoted to the numerical modeling of the interaction between electromagnetic fields (EMFs)and the inhomogeneous human body starting from the modeling approach of macromolecules at molecular level and arriving to model highly complex biological systems. This will provide a unique way to give a comprehensive understanding of interaction of EM fields with the human body and to assess the resulting spatial distributions of internal electric fields, currents, and rate of energy deposition in order to develop novel diagnostic and treatment tools. The purpose of this session is to invite high-quality researchers to present: -how to investigate the dynamics of biological processes under various assumptions using complex multi-physics and multi-scale approach -how to use electromagnetic computational techniques as a support for the development and optimization of innovative and emerging EMF-based medical devices and applications.
Potential topics include but are not limited to: • molecular modeling of biomolecules and membranes • multiphysics and multiscale computational models • microdosimetry • cell and tissue modeling • neural tissue models • use of anatomical models
