PIERS2019 Rome Focus/Special Sessions
SC3: Mid-infrared Integrated Photonics and Applications
Organized by Prof. Zhenzhou Cheng (Tianjin University) and Prof. Yingdong Han (Tianjin University)

Session's Information:
Mid-infrared integrated photonics has many promising applications in areas of nonlinear optics, imaging, sensing, and spectroscopy. However, compared with visible light and telecommunication band, development of mid-infrared integrated photonics is still in its infant mainly due to the limitation of materials. In the past decades, novel mid-infrared materials with unique optical properties have been continuously discovered which also boosts unprecedented micro/nano-photonic devices. These emerging techniques are expected to bring us new science, revolutionize existing techniques, and even create new applications in mid-infrared integrated photonics. In this session, we invite prominent scientists to review their previous work and share their original studies about the mid-infrared integrated photonics and applications.
