PIERS2018 Toyama Focus/Special Sessions
SC1: Electromagnetic Simulation and Modeling Methods for Metamaterials and Plasmonics
Organized by Prof. Li Jun Jiang (The University of Hong Kong) and Dr. Xiaoyan Xiong (University of Hong Kong)
Session's Information:
Due to increasing scientific and engineering activities in multi-disciplines, the boundary between microwaves and optics is disappearing. Today, metamaterials and plasmonics attract interests from both microwave and optics societies. As the universal tool, electromagnetic simulation and modeling methodologies are under unprecedented demands and dependences. This session focuses on the state of the art electromagnetic simulation algorithms and modeling approaches for large-scale quasi-periodic and periodic structures, metasurfaces and metamaterials, graphene plasmonics, acoustic metamaterials, plasmonic polarization effects, nanoantennas, nonlinear plasmonics, etc. Through the collection of modeling algorithms and their results, this session dedicates to provide new fundamental and sophisticated methodologies for multidisciplinary electromagnetic simulations and analysis in metamaterials and plasmonics.
