Novel Materials, Designs and Applications for Absorption of Electromagnetic Wave
Organized by Prof. Bo Hou (Soochow University) and Prof. Fumiaki Miyamaru (Shinshu University)
 
Session's Information:
Absorption of electromagnetic radiation, such as microwave, THz wave, and optical wave, has been manifested to be vitally important, due to versatile applications ranging from radar absorbers, IR detectors, solar cells, and so on. Extreme performances in absorption like perfect absorption, broad-band, wide-angle, and ultrathin thickness have been pursued for long time, and these merits are being realized in recent years, thanks to the emergence of new structures and materials, for example, metamaterials, metasurfaces, 2D materials, etc. In addition, novel physics and applications during the absorption of electromagnetic energy, particularly in high power case, are receiving intense attentions both from the fundamental research point of view and from the industrial development point of view.

This session aims to discuss the emerging possibility and potential of designing wave absorbers with excellent performances and to explore the novel physics and applications during the absorption of electromagnetic energy.
