PIERS2018 Toyama Focus/Special Sessions
SC4: Terahertz Devices, Components, and Systems for Practical Applications
Organized by Dr. Safumi Suzuki (Tokyo Institute of Technology)
Session's Information:
Over the last 20-30 years, terahertz technology have been intensively studied, and it came one step closer to becoming practical applications. This session will focus on the latest terahertz technologies with a view to practical applications. The following is a representative list of topics typically covered at the session:
-Terahertz sources (photoconductive switches, parametric oscillators, graphene, quantum cascade lasers, resonant tunneling diodes, CMOS devices, HBTs and HEMTs, etc.)
-Terahertz detectors (bolometers and other thermal detectors, Schottky diodes, FETs, quantum devices, plasmonic devices, graphene and other 2D materials, etc.)
-Terahertz amplifiers (CMOS devices, HBTs and HEMTs, vacuum electronics, etc.)
-Terahertz modulators
-Terahertz components (antennas, lenses, gratings, waveguides, metamaterials, etc.)
-Systems for terahertz applications
