SC5: Remote Sensing Using Global Navigation Satellite System Reflectometry (GNSS-R) and other Signals of Opportunity (SoOp)

Session's Information:
Global Navigation Satellite Systems reflectometry (GNSS-R) techniques for oceanographic, cryospheric, and hydrological remote sensing have generated substantially interest following the NASA CYGNSS and UK TechDemoSat missions. Reflectometry using the broader class of satellite signals of opportunity (SoOps), enable observations to be made in almost any microwave band, greatly expanding the range of science observables that can be generated. This session seeks contributions presenting: 1) improved understanding of GNSS-R and SoOp forward models for different types of surfaces; 2) Inverse methods for the retrieval of parameters from GNSS-R and SoOp observations; 3) results from field experiments and satellite data.
