PIERS 2008 in Cambridge will be held in the Hyatt Regency Cambridge, overlooking Boston. The hotel is situated along the scenic Charles River overlooking downtown Boston, adjacent to MIT and convenient to Harvard and Boston Universities. This years banquet will be held on the Charles View Ballroom on the top floor of the Hyatt Regency Cambridge, with a magnificent view of the Charles River and the fireworks that will occur on the 4th of July.

The city of Boston is the biggest city and the capital of Massachusetts. It was founded in 1630 and was established as a city in 1822 as one of America's oldest cities with a rich historical culture. With its surrounding and neighboring areas, it is also the center of higher education and the economical hub of New England region. The city of Cambridge, also founded in 1630, was known as Newetowne until 1638 and was established as a city in 1846. Situated directly across the Charles River, it is one of the original cities founded along with Boston.

Boston's weather in early July are warm days with cool nights with the least amount of rainfall of the year. Daytime temperatures average 74oF (23oC) with an average high temperature at 82oF (28oC) and average low temperature at 65oF (18oC).

Logan International Airport is the closest international airport to Boston. It serves the Massachusetts area and is one of the busiest international airports in the U.S. Boston’s public transportation systems have offered several options to travel to and from the airport. Typical taxi fare to and from Logan International Airport and the Hyatt Regency Cambridge is approximately USD $35 plus tip.

The Hyatt Regency Cambridge offers complimentary shuttle services for registered guests to Harvard Square, the Cambridgeside Gallerias Mall, Kendall Square Red Line Subway Station, and the Boston University Green Line Subway Station.

Boston is home to the first subway system in America and has grown to an extensive public transportation system. The public transportation system is operated by the MBTA or also knows as the “T”. You can easily travel across the city and neighboring areas by rail, subway, bus, or boat. The typical subway fare is $2.00 USD and it allows you access to any line and to any direction. The typical bus fare is USD $1.50 and provides you access to locations where the subway cannot.

Driving Directions From Logan International Airport to the Hyatt Regency Cambridge:
Follow signs to the Mass Turnpike: 90 Boston/Williams Tunnel. Pay toll upon exiting airport. You will be heading West on 90. From 90 West, take exit 20 Brighton/Cambridge (pay another toll). Out of the toll booth, bear right following sign for Cambridge/Somerville exit. From this exit ramp, stay straight through two lights and cross over the bridge. Just over the bridge, turn right at the light onto Memorial Drive. Stay in the left lane. Continue up/over overpass keeping in left lane. At the first light on Memorial Drive after the overpass make a left and then another quick left into the Hyatt front circle.

Public Transportation Directions from Logan International Airport to the Hyatt Regency Cambridge:
From the airport on the arrival level, look for the MBTA Silver Line, a shuttle bus service. The typical fare is USD $2.00 to get on board. Ride the Silver Line to South Station, where you will transfer to the Red Line. You do not need to pay additional subway fare to transfer between Lines. In the Red Line, take an Inbound train and exit at Kendall Station. Outside of Kendall Station, you will have arrived at Kendall Square where you can take bus CT2 (CT2 does not operate on weekends). Typical bus fare is $1.50 USD. After one stop you will arrive on Amesbury Street, which is right off of Memorial Drive, where the Hyatt Regency Cambridge is located.
