SC5: Medical Applications of Radars
Organized by Prof. Stefano Pisa (Sapienza University of Rome) and Prof. Emanuele Piuzzi (Sapienza University of Rome)
Session's Information:
Medical applications of radar systems are a challenging field of research driven by the ability of radars to detect small dielectric discontinuities inside the human body and small organ movements. This special session will be devoted to recent medical applications of radar. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following areas: Remote monitoring of vital signs: ultrawideband (UWB), Doppler, and frequency modulated continus wave (FMCW) radars for breath and heart activity monitoring; blood vessel movements and speech sensing; radar sensors for indoor tracking; through the wall radar imaging (TWRI) systems. Detection of pathological conditions: radar systems for breast cancer detection, for monitoring biological tissues and tissue lesions. Radar systems and antenna Technology: discrete and integrated realizations of radars, assembled instruments.
